1. Tree Bank
○ An innovative approach was implemented regarding cutting of Trees in line with the Infra Development.
○ For every tree cut by authority, 10 tree areas being planted
○ For every tree transplanted, authority given to plant 5 trees
○ Height of Trees should be a minimum of 3 meters
○ Compulsorily Geo-tagging of all planted Trees
○ Carbon dioxide absorbing Tree species
2. New Fastag Policy:
○ It has enabled:
■ Seamless Travel: to cut down on the waiting time at Toll Plazas
1
■ Pay as Per Use: New Technology will enable us to deduct toll on pro-rata basis
■ With this new toll charging mechanism the distance between the toll plaza would be redundant giving significance only to KM’s covered.
3. Amrit Sarovar Scheme:
○ Instead of the Buldhana Pattern; let’s talk about Amrit Sarovar.
○ Amrit Sarovar Yojna serves a dual purpose of infrastructure development and water conservation. ○ In this scheme we extract sand and soil and create farm ponds
4. Religious Tourism Made Easy:
For promoting religious tourism, Nitin Gadkari Ji has started many projects running into Lakhs of crores ○Char-Dham, A project of 827km of two-lane highway project which is Rs. 12,000 crore. The project will connect the four important pilgrim towns of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. The target date for Completion is by 2023.
○ Palkhi Marg A project of 365km. About 225 km of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Marg from Diveghat to Mohol and about 140 Km of Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Marg from Patas to Tondale – Bondale, will comprise of four lanes with dedicated walkways for ‘Palkh.
○ Project cost is Rs. 5000 crore. The target date for Completion is by 2023.
○ Ram-Van-Gaman Marg A project of 258km would be a tourist circuit connecting all places from where Lord

Ram is believed to have passed during his exile from Ayodhya to Rameswaram. This project would cost around Rs. 5,000 crore. The target date for Completion is by the end of this year.
○ Buddha Circuit A project of 419km which is of Rs. 20,000 crore. The Buddhist circuit would be a route that follows in the footsteps of the Buddha from Lumbini in Nepal where he was born, through Bihar in India where he attained enlightenment, to Sarnath and Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh in India, where he gave his first teachings and died.
○ The target date for Completion is by 2023.
5. Signature Projects:
○ Zozilla Tunnel – Zojilla tunnel of nearly 14.2 km cost around INR 7000 Cr.
○ It would provide all weather connectivity in between Srinagar-Kargil-Leh (NH-1)
○ The travel time would be 15-mins in place of 3 and half hours. This would make a huge saving of Fuel.
4
○ Dhola-Sadia Bridge – 9.13 km, providing connectivity between eastern part of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh ○
Gandhi Setu at Patna – 4 lane, 5.6 km long bridge connects Patana with Hajipur over river Ganga in Bihar, first time Balanced cantilever Bridge superstructure is replaced with Simply supported one
6. Way-Side Amenities:
○ Gadkari ji has built Expressways of International Standard by not only improving the quality of National highways but by also improving its allied infrastructure for the convenience of the road users.
○ Way side amenities would be developed at more than 600 locations across 22 states.
○ They would have several facilities like fuel stations, electric charging stations, food courts , retail shops, village haats for supporting local handicrafts and clinics.
○ They will also act as a hub for Organ Transplantation and Drone driven logistics

7. Tech Interventions:
○ Pre-Cast– We have mandated use of minimum 25% precast components in National Highways, Expressways and centrally sponsored Infra Projects.
○ The advantages of the technology are
■ Cost and Time saving which would help us in faster commission of the project.
■ High quality components
■ Dust-free environment at site
White-Topping – Another innovative technique to save operation and maintenance cost of roads is by using White topping. It saves cost in the range of 20% to 30% compared to conventional Cement Concrete Pavement. It is an overlay that is constructed on top of an existing bituminous road. This overlay acts as a long-term alternative for the rehabilitation or structural strengthening of roads.

8. Ropeways / Parvatmala:
○ The Indian subcontinent is home to 7 major mountain ranges from the great mountains of Himalayas to Western Ghats to Purvanchal range and a few others.
○ So after huge success of Sagarmala and Bharatmala; we are on a mission to connect our mountains through Ropeways
○ Ropeways have emerged as the preferred mode of transportation to provide first and last mile connectivity in hilly areas to help decongest the urban areas.
○ Parvatmala Yojna has a sharp focus on development of ropeways in India .
○ The ropeway of Kedarnath would be one of its kind which would be developed at 11,755 ft above the sea level.
9. Alternative Construction Material: ○ Modified Bitumen
■ Modified Bitumen is made by mixing waste rubber & waste plastic.
8
■ It will resolve disposal issues of waste tyres and waste plastics.
○ Aggregates–
■ Steel plants in India generate about 2 crore tons of steel slag per year.
■ Processed steel slag can be used in road construction in place of natural aggregates
○ Jute
■ Use of Geotextile made from Jute and coir improves the drainage and stability of low-traffic roads.
■ Geo-strips for Reinforced Earth Wall
■ Geo-mat/Geo-net for erosion & slope protection ■ Geo-textile/Geo-fiber Reinforced Concrete for boundary wall/Lined Drain
○ These all activities will not boost Rural economy and create jobs in Villages but will also contribute towards Clean India Mission

10. Prompt Action on Removal of Black Spots: ○ Road Accident Black spot is a stretch of National Highway of about 500m in length in which either 5 road accidents (in all three years put together involving fatalities/grievous injuries) took place during the last 3 calendar years or 10 fatalities
○ Continuous Audit that needs to be taken up by the states to minimize the black spots.
○ States to expedite rectification works and law enforcement on NHs.
○ Best Performing States in Black spot Correction:
(i) Chhattisgarh
(ii) Telangana
(iii) Andhra Pradesh
(iv) Uttarakhand
(v) Rajasthan

11. Sethu Bandhan:
○ Formulated a new scheme to construct ROB / RUB on State roads
○ The Setu-Bandhan scheme of Rs 16,000 crores to make roads free of Railway Gates (Level Crossings)
○ Under this scheme ROBs / RUBs will be constructed on roads belonging to State / UT PWDs
○ This scheme will reduce accidents caused on level crossings
○ It is a great attempt to make Indian Roads free of Railway-Crossing
