BULDHANA WATER CONSERVATION PROJECT

The pilot project under NHAI aimed at creating water conservation facilities in several villages in drought-prone Buldhana district of Maharashtra while carrying out road works.

Under the project, personnel of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), along with the teams of PWD engineers deputed with them, extracted soil from rivers, nullahs, village tanks, minor/medium irrigation projects in the vicinity of national highways, thereby increasing the storage capacity of these water bodies.

About 5,510 TCM storage capacity was created by way of extraction of 52.10 lakh cubic metre material from various small irrigation projects in around 152 villages in Buldhana district. Similarly, around 22,800 wells were recharged and 208 villages got water in Maharashtra.

SELLING TREATED SEWAGE WATER TO POWER PLANTS

Shri Nitin Gadkari ji always emphasis on the two philosophies first is the conversion of knowledge into wealth and other is, conversion of waste into wealth. Keeping these thoughts in mind, he took the initiative and sold treated sewage water to the thermal power station.

Nagpur, is selling treated sewage water to thermal power station in Maharashtra for three years for power generation work. It has been getting `18 crore as revenue.”

NAGPUR AQUA-LINE PHASE 1

Shri Nitin Gadkari has inaugurated Aqua Line Metro Rail from Lokmanya Nagar to Sitabuldi interchange. The Aqua Line, which runs on the east-west corridor, passes through the huge lakes and water bodies of Ambazari Lake, Gandhi Sagar and Nag River.

A total of 24.50 km of the metro with 6 stations has become operational, while another 5 stations are likely to be operational by April 2020.

Shri Gadkari ji has personally ensured that Nagpur metro design should be world-class, with several rounds of discussions and suggestions from daily Nagpur commuters.

SADAR FLYOVER, NAGPUR

Traffic-free market places — Sadar and Chhaoni was a dream for every Nagpur citizen. For the last two decades, Sadar and Chhaoni have been witnessing severe traffic congestion due to the narrow road between Liberty Square and Raj Bhavan’s rear gate.

Today Nagpur citizens can easily commute without facing any congestion on road. The Sadar flyover is 3.96km in length and has been constructed at a cost of Rs219 crore. It is a Y-shaped flyover which will start from T-point near Samvidhan Square and end on Katol Road and Koradi Road.

The flyover will have a separate branch commencing from Divisional Sports Complex on Koradi Road and connect with main the flyover in front of Raj Bhavan’s rear gate. It has been constructed to avoid congestion and mishaps over the main flyover at Chhaoni Square.

KHASDAR KRIDA MAHOTSAV

Shri Nitin Gadkari ji launched an initiative to promote sports talent in the Nagpur region. In this annual sports event, the whole region witnesses the culmination of a talent in multiple sports activity. With the tagline – Khelo Nagpur Khelo, this event had accommodated all sports and game-like athletic gymnastics, cycling, bodybuilding, swimming archery, and a wide array of sporting events. Both boy and girls under different age categories have participated in the event.

KHASDAR SANKRUTI MAHOTSAV

The biggest cultural extravaganza event organised under the leadership of Shri Nitin Gadkari ji. 2000 national & International artist participated in the 17-day cultural fest. This event has become the platform for various artists to showcase our culture, values and art. Apart from the typical cultural event, a variety of other programmes are also being organized and it has also included music, dance, comedy and poetry. Various renowned artists like Hema Malini, Kavita Krishnamurti , Shanker Mahadevan and others joined the event.
